Unge filmkritikere og filmjournalister inviteres til Berlin-festivalen

We would like to invite you and/or your colleagues to apply for THE
TALENT PRESS, a new project by Berlinale Talent Campus, Goethe
Institute, European Film Academy and FIPRESCI (International
Federation of Film Critics). 10 young film critics and film
journalists from five different continents will be invited to Berlin
to report on the films at the 54. Berlin International Film Festival
and on the events of the Berlinale Talent Campus (7-12 February
2004).
The application phase for THE TALENT PRESS has started now. The
following application criteria can also be found online at
http://www.berlinale-talentcampus.de:
Eligible are:
• Young film critics and film journalists who are fluent in English
(writing and speaking).
• Young film critics and film journalists who are under 30 years and
are eager to report on films in the frame of the Berlin International
Film Festivals and on events of the Berlinale Talent Campus 2004
• Young film critics and film journalists who have published articles
in newspapers, film magazines, on websites or in universities.
The participants will be offered:
• Share of the travel expenses according to their country of origin
• Free accommodation in youth hostels in Berlin from 6 to 13 February
2004
• The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and to be with 500 young
talented filmmakers from all over the world and to experience the
day-to-day buzz of a prestigious A-Festival.
• Young film critics will be guided through the Berlin International
Film Festival by Ronald Bergan (author of many books on film) and
Derek Malcolm from "The Guardian" and other renowned film critics.
Every day, the film critics will write a critique about a film from
the festival programme, discuss and review it with their fellow
participants and film critics.
• Young film journalists will be accompanied by Peter Cowie (former
editor-in-chief of "Variety" and author of many books on film) and
Oliver Baumgarten (Schnitt - Das Filmmagazin) in the Berlinale Talent
Campus. Every day, the film journalists will write short reviews of
the Campus events and do interviews with well-known experts and
talent
from all over the world.
• Participants can attend the events of the European Film Academy and
FIPRESCI on criteria for film criticism and workshops with directors
on film criticism that are organised in the frame of the Berlinale
Talent Campus 2004
• The articles and reviews will be published on
http://www.berlinale-talentcampus.de and http://www.fipresci.org.
Participants will grant unlimited use and exploitation rights in and
to all articles and reviews done in the framework of the Berlinale
Talent Campus and the Berlin International Film Festival.
Your application should include:
• Letter explaining why you are interested in joining THE TALENT
PRESS
in Berlin and if you prefer to work as a film critic or as a film
journalist in our programme
• Curriculum Vitae and Personal Data (Address, E-Mail etc.)
• Up to 3 original copies of articles that you have published in the
last 2 years (if these articles are not in English you should supply
us with a decent translation as a proof of your English writing
skills
for each article)
The application deadline is November 14th, 2003. Selected talents will
be notified by the beginning of December. Please send your application
